Pledge 450 stars

Kylie runs 45km in a day

Kylie ran 45 kilometres on Anzac Day 2025, pushing through physical fatigue by thinking of what families facing childhood cancer must go through. Every step was a reminder of the strength these families show each day. Completing the run was both a personal achievement and a way to contribute to a cause close to her heart.

Reflecting on the experience, Kylie laughed, “Running marathons isn’t as easy as it used to be!”. The sense of accomplishment and the impact of raising funds made every kilometre worthwhile. And her advice for anyone considering Pledge 450? “Make it as easy or hard as you like – it’s easy to promote when you’re supporting such a worthy cause.”

Painting 450 rocks and distribute in local parks

Stephanie was inspired to take part in Pledge 450 after her friend’s daughter was diagnosed with cancer. With her two young children, they painted and distributed 450 rocks in local parks.

The highlight was seeing children help hide the rocks or get excited when they discovered one. Stephanie’s community rallied around her, and she even sold some rocks to raise extra funds. The challenge allowed her to combine creativity, family time and fundraising in one experience.

For Stephanie, Pledge 450 was more than raising funds – it was a way to make a tangible difference while including her family in every step.

450 works of art

For their challenge, each year level at Immanuel Primary School created artworks – from portraits and flower paintings to decorated calico bags and mixed media sculptures. These were displayed at an in-person exhibition and online, with families donating to “purchase” their child’s artwork.

The school community responded generously, raising $6,665. “This initiative felt far more meaningful than a typical Mother’s Day gift stall,” the school said. Enouraged by a visit from Childhood Cancer Associations’ mascot, Elliot the dog, students learnt firsthand how their efforts make a difference.

Morgan & Thomas’ baking challenge

Morgan and Thomas baked 450 treats, helping them raise over $5,000 to support children and families affected by childhood cancer. Morgan would like to encourage others to take part: “The Childhood Cancer Association plays an integral part in supporting families when a child is diagnosed with cancer. By participating in Pledge 450, you help raise awareness and provide vital funding to support the incredible work CCA does.”
