Pledge 450

Can you help me make a difference?

Hi there,

This April, I am taking on the Childhood Cancer Association's Pledge 450

Why? Each year, around 450 families rely on the Childhood Cancer Association for emotional and practical support following a childhood cancer diagnosis. They offer over 30 services including counselling, accommodation for country families, support groups, equipment loans and educational support.

Please help me reach my goal by making a donation through my page. It only takes a minute and any money you can give (no matter how large or small) will go a long way to helping me reach my target.

Thank you, I really appreciate your support...

Escaping from the reality of hospital life

Tuesday 7th Apr
We were one of the very fortunate families who spent minimal time in hospital. That doesn't mean that hospital stays were easy or enjoyable, so we read. I read while Adam was sleeping or spending time with the hospital school teachers, we read with Adam to make the long hospital days feel a bit shorter. We read to take our minds off of nausea and needles, and we read to take our mind off of the fact that COVID made our hospital stays even more isolated.
Books have always been a way to take my mind off of whatever challenges life threw at us, and supporting our son through brain cancer was definitely a challenge.
